There is a very important issue here. I think the pension arrangements for Fred the Shred are obscene, and I am angered at this reward of failure. But, and it's a massive but, it was legitimate and above board, and politicians up to the PM knew and approved. I think this retrospective adjustment, this wriggling out of agreement and even attempts to back date changes to the law represents an even bigger scandal and threat. I'd rather see Fred keep the money than see Brown and Co get away with the precedent of back-dated changes of mind!Should they be asking his advice instead of stripping his title?

Not only should his knighthood go but also his pension and possibly his freedom as well.
This man has been made a scapegoat and if you can't see it I'm sorry for you. Why not blame those who are the real culprits, with one in particular Brown. You seem to have lost sight of the fact he was working for the government and made no mention of it. I would never stick up for someone I saw as being in the wrong, but on this occasion I will.
I doubt that anyone would would give his advice any credibility whatsoever.To actually put a major bank in a position where it has to be propped up by the taxpayer reveals his gross incompetence and serious shortcomings in the level both of his business acumen and fiscal probity.
I think he's one of the leading people responsible for the banking crisis, in this country anyway.





He's a mediocrity, promoted way above his ability. Like the vast majority of these greedy bankers.
