I want to be a bartender, advice?

I know most places want females working behind the bar to bring in guys, but this doesnt help me. (obviously im a guy) please dont give me advice, to ';never give up'; if you know some real advice let me know thankyou, and if your ever in clearwater, fl i'll make you a free drinkI want to be a bartender, advice?
I was a bartender for years but before that I was a food server and cocktail server. Do you have any restaurant or bar experience? If not, maybe you will need to start working as a bar back or a server until somebody needs to be replaced. A 40 hour course is not enough experience to work in a bar in the eyes of most hiring management. Get your foot in the door and then see what you can do.I want to be a bartender, advice?
Take into account that you're going to be around a lot of single people, so they likely want someone who looks good to attract customers, and be flirty to keep them coming back.

So maybe you need to jazz up your look. Also keep in mind the establishment and change your wardrobe to suit the interview.

Best of luck.
well try to be a gentleman to woman and friendly to men
Being a good bartender is more then making drinks. learn to be a good listener, give sage advice, and be aware of situations unfolding on your watch. don't be afraid to cut people off if trouble will unfold due to people attitudes.
Most of the places that are open really late are usually looking for male bartenders - especially if they have a rougher crowd. Try your luck in an ';inner city'; bar - across from bus stations or office buildings.
See if you can get a part time position in a small neighborhood bar. With some practice and experience, then you can apply to a better paying, higher class bar
Good luck getting behind the bar in Florida if you can't wear a bikini top. Just kidding. Get your experience in a restaurant. Shoot for a busy national place like ';Macaroni Grill';. If you can't begin as a bartender take the waiter job and be the best waiter on staff AND sell a lot of drinks, then ask if you can work any shifts that no one else wants (i.e. Tuesday lunch). Do that for 6 months and I guarantee one of the ';top spot'; bartenders will quit or get fired. You are in.
In my town, most bartenders start out as bouncers....maybe try and get a job as that first. If that doesn't work watch the movie ';Cocktail'; and cry yourself to sleep
