I teach in China and most of my students come from Korea. There it is understood that students are ranked and the rankings are made public to the parents. Parents are always asking me how their children rank in my classroom. Of course this is something I would never tell a parent even if we kept our records in that sort of way, but not only that, I find it actually gets in the way of the student's learning. He or she is so concerned about the grade, that he does not internalize the content. The content is something to cover and overcome, but not really something to learn.





My advice to you would be to not worry about being the top in your class, but to be the best student you can be. Chances are if you do this, you'll be at the top if not on the very top of your class. Be the best you can be by finding out why you are learning what you are learning and making observations and asking questions in class. Make connections between your class topics and between those topics and what is going on in the world. Do your homework carefully, not in a rush. depth rather than breadth is important. Get the most from the exercises. Take note of the parts that were difficult and when you check your answers, be sure you understand why you got something wrong. Learn from your mistakes. Enjoy learning. If you can do that, nothing else matters and you will be a success at whatever you try to do.

umm, I guess study AL THE TIME! keep doing what u do, help people out on yahoo answers. Become a tutor (when you demonstrate learning, your demonstrating that you can understand)
