You need to get an affordable camera that you like. Generally that's (in no particular order)


the Nikon D40


the Nikon D40x


the Canon Digital Rebel XTi


the Pentax K100D





If your budget is tight the Pentax K100D can be found for $445 with a lens. If you have a little more money, go for the Nikon D40. The Nikon D40x and Canon Digital Rebel XTi are a bit more in price than the D40.





Go into a real camera store and physically handle these cameras. In a few seconds, you'll know which camera feels ';right'; to you. See if the buttons make sense to you. Are they in the right places? Does the menu seem logical? How does the fit/finish/quality of the camera feel to you? Pick the camera that feels right in your hand.
